Looking for a 3Commas Alternative? What to Compare First

People go looking for a 3Commas alternative for very different reasons. Some want a cheaper bill. Some want a free plan that trades real money. Some are tired of picking from bot types and want to build their own logic. Some just had a bad week and are blaming the tool (we’ve all refactored code that was fine because a test failed for unrelated reasons).

The reason matters, because switching tools is work, and the “best alternative” depends entirely on what you’re switching for. So before comparing feature lists, here are six questions worth answering, with an honest note on where TradeFIQ lands on each.

1. Do you want bot types or building blocks?

3Commas is organised around bot types: DCA bots, grid bots, signal bots, plus SmartTrade for manual positions. That’s a strength if you want a well-tested preset and a few fields to tune.

The alternative approach is building blocks: you compose entry rules, exit rules, execution settings and risk rules yourself, from menus, and reuse them. TradeFIQ is firmly in this camp. If you want DCA or grid presets specifically, TradeFIQ doesn’t have them, and you should weigh that. If you’ve been bending a preset to do something it wasn’t designed for, blocks will feel like taking the handbrake off. More on that in our guide to reusable strategy templates.

2. Where do your signals come from?

If your edge lives in TradingView alerts or Pine Script, you need a tool that executes webhooks. 3Commas supports TradingView alerts, webhooks and Pine Script execution. TradeFIQ doesn’t: strategies are built from its own indicators (around 30, from RSI and MACD to Supertrend, Ichimoku and Smart Money Concepts) and rules. Be honest with yourself about which world you’re in.

3. What happens to an open trade when you change your mind?

This one gets overlooked until the day it matters. In 3Commas, per its help center, editing a running bot applies to new trades, and open trades are edited individually. In TradeFIQ every automated trade keeps its own copy of its rules, and you can edit them on the open trade without closing the position.

4. How much of your balance can a bot touch?

Ask any tool: if this bot has the worst week of its life, what’s the most it can lose? TradeFIQ requires a capital budget for every automation. Trades are sized from it, a capital stop closes positions before the budget is exceeded, and budgets are reserved so two automations can’t spend the same money. Whatever you choose, make sure you know the answer to this question before you connect a real account.

5. Can you practise for free on the real thing?

Most tools offer some form of demo or paper trading. The useful question is whether practice runs the same automation you’ll run live, on live prices. In TradeFIQ, paper automations use the same templates, risk profiles, schedules and budgets as live ones, with their own separate allowance. 3Commas offers a demo account on its plans. Backtesting exists on both; check the limits on the plan you’d actually buy.

6. What does it cost, all in?

3Commas’ paid plans start from $15 a month at the time of writing, and its free tier doesn’t include real trading (check their pricing for current details). TradeFIQ has a free plan that includes live trading, paper trading, backtesting and one exchange connection, with paid plans for more automations and exchanges. Compare the plan that covers what you’ll actually use, not the cheapest one on the page.

Copy trading, if that’s your thing

If you’d rather follow someone than build, look at how a tool’s copy trading charges. TradeFIQ’s copy-trading fee is a flat weekly amount that’s only paid when the trades you copied end the week in profit. Managers also have to prove a live track record before they can be copied.

The short version

  • Want presets like DCA and grid, or TradingView execution? 3Commas is built for that.
  • Want to build your own rules without code, cap every bot with a hard budget, and fix a trade while it’s open? That’s what TradeFIQ is for.

There’s a side-by-side table with sources on our TradeFIQ vs 3Commas page. And whichever way you go, run it on paper first. Switching tools is the perfect time to find out your favourite strategy only worked because of a setting you forgot you’d changed.
