Your keys, your funds
You connect with an API key you create on the exchange, with trading permission and nothing else. Leave withdrawals off and nobody using that key can move money off your account. Delete the key on the exchange and access stops immediately.
A budget per automation, whatever the exchange
Every automation gets its own capital. It sizes trades from that amount, never from your whole balance, and stops itself if the budget is used up. Run a careful BTC automation and an experimental altcoin one on the same account, and one can never spend the other's money.
