Backtest Crypto Trading Strategies Without Code
Replay a strategy on historical market data before it touches real money. See every simulated trade, the win rate, the drawdown and the fees, from the same screens you build with.
Every strategy looks brilliant in your head. A backtest is where it meets the market's actual history, and where most ideas quietly die, which is exactly what you want to happen before money is involved.
Test the thing you'll actually run
Backtests run on the same strategy templates and risk profiles your automations use. There's no separate "backtest version" to keep in sync: build it once, test it, and if it holds up, automate that exact template.
What you get back
- Every simulated trade: entry, exit, size, fees, result, and why it closed (take-profit, stop-loss, exit signal or timeout).
- Win rate and total profit after fees: how often it wins, and whether the wins pay for the losses.
- Maximum drawdown: the worst peak-to-trough fall. Often the number that matters most.
- Sharpe ratio: return relative to how bumpy the ride was.
How to read a backtest honestly
- Few trades means little evidence. Twenty trades tells you much less than two hundred.
- If small changes to a setting swing results wildly, the strategy is probably fitted to noise.
- Test more than one period, including one where the market fell.
- A strategy that only works on one coin is a warning, not a discovery.
Then paper trade it
A backtest can't feel slippage, missed fills or the exact timing of live candles. Once a strategy passes, run it on paper money with live prices for a while. When paper and backtest agree, give it a small real budget.
Frequently asked questions
Is backtesting included in the free plan?
Yes. Paid plans allow longer periods and finer timeframes.
What do I see after a backtest?
Every simulated trade with its entry, exit, size, fees, result and why it closed, plus win rate, total profit after fees, maximum drawdown, Sharpe ratio and average trade duration.
Does a good backtest mean the strategy will make money?
No. A backtest shows how the rules would have behaved on past data. Markets change, and live trading adds fees, slippage and timing that history can only approximate. Treat it as a filter for bad ideas, then confirm with paper trading.
Do I need to code the backtest?
No. You backtest the same strategy template you would automate, with the same risk profile, from the same screens.
