Edit a Live Crypto Trade Without Closing It
Tighten a stop-loss, move a take-profit or swap the exit rules on a trade that's already open. The position stays put; only the rules watching it change.
Markets move after you set your rules. News lands, volatility doubles, a trade runs further than you expected. With many bots, changing course on an open position means closing it (paying fees and possibly a spread) and starting again, or accepting that new settings only apply to the next trade.
Every trade carries its own rules
When TradeFIQ automates a trade, it gives that trade its own copy of the strategy and risk profile it runs on. That copy is what you edit. Change the stop-loss on one trade and nothing else moves: not the template it came from, not the automation, not the trade next to it.
What you can change while it's open
- Risk: stop-loss (fixed, percentage or trailing), take-profit, position management, trading sessions, volatility adjustments and circuit breakers.
- Strategy: exit conditions (for example, add RSI (14) is above 75 as an extra way out), execution settings and indicator scoring.
When you save, the engine watching the trade is paused, confirmed stopped, and restarted with the new rules, so there's never a moment where two versions of your rules are running.
Bring a manual trade under automation
Opened a trade by hand and want TradeFIQ to manage the exit? Automate it: pick a strategy and risk profile, set the most it may lose, and it gets its own capital stop and rules from that moment on.
Automations change without being rebuilt, too
The same idea applies one level up. An automation's schedule, pairs and capital can be changed without deleting and recreating it; the new settings apply from its next run, while trades it already opened keep their own rules until you edit them.
Frequently asked questions
Does editing a trade close and reopen the position?
No. The position on the exchange stays exactly as it is. Only the rules watching it change.
What can I change on an open trade?
Its entry, exit and execution settings, its indicator scoring, and its risk rules: stop-loss, take-profit, position management, trading sessions, volatility adjustments and circuit breakers.
Will my change affect other trades or my strategy template?
No. Each automated trade keeps its own copy of the rules it runs on. Editing it changes that trade only; your templates, risk profiles and other trades are untouched.
Can I automate a trade I opened manually?
Yes. Attach a strategy and a risk profile to it, set the most it may lose, and TradeFIQ manages it from there.
Can I edit copied trades?
No. Trades copied from a copy-trading manager follow the manager’s rules and are locked, so your copy stays in step with theirs.
