Bollinger Bands Trading Bot: Automate Bollinger Bands Without Code
Turn Bollinger Bands rules into an automation that trades on its own budget. Backtest it, run it on paper, then let it trade live on your exchange.
What Bollinger Bands measures
Bollinger Bands draw a moving average with a band above and below it, a number of standard deviations away. When the market gets volatile the bands widen; when it goes quiet they squeeze together.
Price near the lower band is cheap relative to the recent average, near the upper band expensive. In the builder you can check that price is near a band, or that it crosses one, and use either band as a price line in its own right.
Defaults in TradeFIQ: 20 periods, 2 standard deviations.
Example: Mean reversion in a range
Here's a Bollinger Bands strategy exactly as you'd set it up in the builder. No code, just conditions.

Why it's built this way: Bands are great for ranges and dangerous in trends. The ADX condition only allows trades when the market isn't trending strongly, and exiting at the middle band takes the reliable part of the move instead of hoping for the far band.
This is a starting point to test, not a recommendation to trade. Backtest it on your pair, then let it run with paper money for a while before you give it real capital.
Common Bollinger Bands mistakes
- Selling just because price touched the upper band. In a strong trend price can ride the band for a long time.
- Ignoring the squeeze. Very narrow bands often come before a big move, in either direction.
- Using band touches with no confirmation and no stop-loss.
Automating it with TradeFIQ
Once the rules are set, an automation runs them on your schedule (every 15 minutes, hourly, daily and so on) on the exchange you choose. It sizes every trade from the budget you give it, never your whole balance, and applies your stop-loss and take-profit from the moment the trade opens.
If you want to tighten a stop on a trade that's already open, you can edit the live trade's rules without closing the position. And the same Bollinger Bands strategy can be reused by any number of automations, on any of our supported exchanges.
Frequently asked questions
Can I build a Bollinger Bands trading bot without coding?
Yes. In the strategy builder you pick Bollinger Bands from a list, choose a condition (for example "crosses above" or "is below") and what to compare it with, and add any other conditions you want. No scripts or formulas.
What Bollinger Bands settings does TradeFIQ use?
By default: 20 periods, 2 standard deviations. You can change them per strategy.
Can I combine Bollinger Bands with other indicators?
Yes. A strategy can require several conditions at once, compare one indicator to another (like EMA (9) crossing EMA (21)), and add an optional scoring layer where extra indicators carry different weights.
Does a Bollinger Bands strategy work on every coin?
Not the same way. Indicators behave differently across pairs and timeframes, so backtest the exact pair and timeframe you plan to trade, then run it on paper before going live.
