MACD Trading Bot: Automate MACD Without Code
Turn MACD rules into an automation that trades on its own budget. Backtest it, run it on paper, then let it trade live on your exchange.
What MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence) measures
MACD is the gap between a fast and a slow exponential moving average. When the gap widens, momentum is building; when it narrows, momentum is fading. A signal line (an average of MACD itself) and the histogram (the distance between the two) make those changes easier to act on.
In the builder MACD is a state (Bullish when MACD is above its signal line, Bearish below) or an event (a Bullish or Bearish crossover, true only on the candle where the lines cross). The MACD Histogram is also available as a number.
Defaults in TradeFIQ: Fast 12, slow 26, signal 9.
Example: Momentum turn in a trending market
Here's a MACD strategy exactly as you'd set it up in the builder. No code, just conditions.

Why it's built this way: The crossover catches the momentum turn, and the ADX condition skips flat, choppy markets where MACD crossovers flip back and forth and bleed small losses.
This is a starting point to test, not a recommendation to trade. Backtest it on your pair, then let it run with paper money for a while before you give it real capital.
Common MACD mistakes
- Trading every crossover in a sideways market. That's where MACD is at its worst.
- Expecting it to catch the exact bottom. It's a lagging indicator by design.
- Changing 12/26/9 after one bad week. Change it after a backtest says so.
Automating it with TradeFIQ
Once the rules are set, an automation runs them on your schedule (every 15 minutes, hourly, daily and so on) on the exchange you choose. It sizes every trade from the budget you give it, never your whole balance, and applies your stop-loss and take-profit from the moment the trade opens.
If you want to tighten a stop on a trade that's already open, you can edit the live trade's rules without closing the position. And the same MACD strategy can be reused by any number of automations, on any of our supported exchanges.
Frequently asked questions
Can I build a MACD trading bot without coding?
Yes. In the strategy builder you pick MACD from a list, choose a condition (for example "crosses above" or "is below") and what to compare it with, and add any other conditions you want. No scripts or formulas.
What MACD settings does TradeFIQ use?
By default: Fast 12, slow 26, signal 9. You can change them per strategy.
Can I combine MACD with other indicators?
Yes. A strategy can require several conditions at once, compare one indicator to another (like EMA (9) crossing EMA (21)), and add an optional scoring layer where extra indicators carry different weights.
Does a MACD strategy work on every coin?
Not the same way. Indicators behave differently across pairs and timeframes, so backtest the exact pair and timeframe you plan to trade, then run it on paper before going live.
