RSI Trading Bot: Automate RSI Without Code

Turn RSI rules into an automation that trades on its own budget. Backtest it, run it on paper, then let it trade live on your exchange.

What RSI (Relative Strength Index) measures

RSI compares the size of recent gains to recent losses and squeezes the answer into a number between 0 and 100. Readings under 30 are traditionally called oversold, readings over 70 overbought.

It's a momentum gauge, not a crystal ball. In a strong downtrend RSI can sit under 30 for days while price keeps falling, which is exactly why it works better with a trend filter than on its own.

Defaults in TradeFIQ: 14 periods. You pick the level; 30 and 70 are the classic ones.

Example: Buy the dip, but only in an uptrend

Here's a RSI strategy exactly as you'd set it up in the builder. No code, just conditions.

Enter when (all true)Exit when
  • RSI (14) crosses above 30
  • Price is above EMA (200)
  • RSI (14) is above 70
  • or take-profit at +4% / stop-loss at -2%

Why it's built this way: The EMA filter keeps the strategy out of falling markets, where oversold can keep getting more oversold. Waiting for RSI to cross back above 30, rather than just being below it, avoids buying while momentum is still pointing down.

This is a starting point to test, not a recommendation to trade. Backtest it on your pair, then let it run with paper money for a while before you give it real capital.

Common RSI mistakes

  • Buying every time RSI dips under 30. In a downtrend that's a lot of catching falling knives.
  • Using 30/70 on every timeframe. On 5 minute candles RSI hits extremes constantly; many traders widen to 20/80 there.
  • Skipping the backtest. RSI strategies are very sensitive to the pair and timeframe.

Automating it with TradeFIQ

Once the rules are set, an automation runs them on your schedule (every 15 minutes, hourly, daily and so on) on the exchange you choose. It sizes every trade from the budget you give it, never your whole balance, and applies your stop-loss and take-profit from the moment the trade opens.

If you want to tighten a stop on a trade that's already open, you can edit the live trade's rules without closing the position. And the same RSI strategy can be reused by any number of automations, on any of our supported exchanges.

Frequently asked questions

Can I build a RSI trading bot without coding?

Yes. In the strategy builder you pick RSI from a list, choose a condition (for example "crosses above" or "is below") and what to compare it with, and add any other conditions you want. No scripts or formulas.

What RSI settings does TradeFIQ use?

By default: 14 periods. You pick the level; 30 and 70 are the classic ones. You can change them per strategy.

Can I combine RSI with other indicators?

Yes. A strategy can require several conditions at once, compare one indicator to another (like EMA (9) crossing EMA (21)), and add an optional scoring layer where extra indicators carry different weights.

Does a RSI strategy work on every coin?

Not the same way. Indicators behave differently across pairs and timeframes, so backtest the exact pair and timeframe you plan to trade, then run it on paper before going live.
