Supertrend Trading Bot: Automate Supertrend Without Code
Turn Supertrend rules into an automation that trades on its own budget. Backtest it, run it on paper, then let it trade live on your exchange.
What Supertrend measures
Supertrend draws a single line under price in an uptrend and above it in a downtrend, set a multiple of ATR (volatility) away. When price closes through the line, the trend flips.
It's popular because it answers one question clearly: are we in an uptrend or not? That makes it an excellent filter and a reasonable exit on its own.
Defaults in TradeFIQ: 7 periods of ATR with a multiplier of 3.
Example: Ride the trend, leave when it flips
Here's a Supertrend strategy exactly as you'd set it up in the builder. No code, just conditions.

Why it's built this way: Supertrend decides which side of the market to be on and when to get out; the RSI cross above 50 times the entry on a fresh push of momentum.
This is a starting point to test, not a recommendation to trade. Backtest it on your pair, then let it run with paper money for a while before you give it real capital.
Common Supertrend mistakes
- Using it in a flat market, where it flips back and forth.
- Treating the line as a precise stop. On a fast move, price can close far through it.
- Forgetting to backtest the timeframe. Supertrend on 5 minute candles and on 4 hour candles are different strategies.
Automating it with TradeFIQ
Once the rules are set, an automation runs them on your schedule (every 15 minutes, hourly, daily and so on) on the exchange you choose. It sizes every trade from the budget you give it, never your whole balance, and applies your stop-loss and take-profit from the moment the trade opens.
If you want to tighten a stop on a trade that's already open, you can edit the live trade's rules without closing the position. And the same Supertrend strategy can be reused by any number of automations, on any of our supported exchanges.
Frequently asked questions
Can I build a Supertrend trading bot without coding?
Yes. In the strategy builder you pick Supertrend from a list, choose a condition (for example "crosses above" or "is below") and what to compare it with, and add any other conditions you want. No scripts or formulas.
What Supertrend settings does TradeFIQ use?
By default: 7 periods of ATR with a multiplier of 3. You can change them per strategy.
Can I combine Supertrend with other indicators?
Yes. A strategy can require several conditions at once, compare one indicator to another (like EMA (9) crossing EMA (21)), and add an optional scoring layer where extra indicators carry different weights.
Does a Supertrend strategy work on every coin?
Not the same way. Indicators behave differently across pairs and timeframes, so backtest the exact pair and timeframe you plan to trade, then run it on paper before going live.
