VWAP Trading Bot: Automate VWAP Without Code
Turn VWAP rules into an automation that trades on its own budget. Backtest it, run it on paper, then let it trade live on your exchange.
What VWAP (Volume-Weighted Average Price) measures
VWAP is the average price weighted by how much traded at each price: the "fair value" line many desks use. Buying below VWAP means you paid less than the average participant.
TradeFIQ uses a rolling VWAP and gives you the distance from it as a percentage: +1.5 means price is 1.5% above VWAP, -2 means 2% below. That number works the same on every coin and every price level.
Defaults in TradeFIQ: Rolling window of 20 candles.
Example: Reclaim of fair value
Here's a VWAP strategy exactly as you'd set it up in the builder. No code, just conditions.

Why it's built this way: Price climbing back above VWAP with volume flowing in is a common intraday long signal; taking profit once price is stretched 2% above fair value locks in the typical move.
This is a starting point to test, not a recommendation to trade. Backtest it on your pair, then let it run with paper money for a while before you give it real capital.
Common VWAP mistakes
- Using VWAP on daily or weekly candles, where it loses most of its meaning.
- Assuming a VWAP touch will hold. It's a reference, not a wall.
- Ignoring volume. VWAP on an illiquid pair is noisy.
Automating it with TradeFIQ
Once the rules are set, an automation runs them on your schedule (every 15 minutes, hourly, daily and so on) on the exchange you choose. It sizes every trade from the budget you give it, never your whole balance, and applies your stop-loss and take-profit from the moment the trade opens.
If you want to tighten a stop on a trade that's already open, you can edit the live trade's rules without closing the position. And the same VWAP strategy can be reused by any number of automations, on any of our supported exchanges.
Frequently asked questions
Can I build a VWAP trading bot without coding?
Yes. In the strategy builder you pick VWAP from a list, choose a condition (for example "crosses above" or "is below") and what to compare it with, and add any other conditions you want. No scripts or formulas.
What VWAP settings does TradeFIQ use?
By default: Rolling window of 20 candles. You can change them per strategy.
Can I combine VWAP with other indicators?
Yes. A strategy can require several conditions at once, compare one indicator to another (like EMA (9) crossing EMA (21)), and add an optional scoring layer where extra indicators carry different weights.
Does a VWAP strategy work on every coin?
Not the same way. Indicators behave differently across pairs and timeframes, so backtest the exact pair and timeframe you plan to trade, then run it on paper before going live.
